These would be my favorites to throw...
bucktails
topwaters
crankbaits
jerkbaits
Walking baits
and then Jigs, bulldawgs, and other plastics alike(I dont really throw these much)

depends on water conditions. if its a bit "murky" like it is after a big 'ole rain, like we have experienced over last couple weeks...maybe that buzz bait would be easier to hone in on versus a straight "sight" type lure. Something with some vibration and noise seems to get the edge in murkier conditions.
water temp would drive a lot also, to me, warmer water would impact activity, I'm assuming.
Matching the hatch would be important, too. If shad are busting the water here and there, would seem prudent to imitate that.

It's been proven time and again muskies don't feed by sight. They feed by vibration more than any other method. I don't know of any of my baits that are "sight" presentations alone.
Sure, there is an effect there, but not something that they key on.
Hatch matching with muskies....Not really. sometimes color will make a difference, but it is more about the action of the bait, the vibration.
Fall baits for me are big gliders, big plastics like the Suzy sucker, big spinnerbaits, and 10" Suicks.
That isn't to say that I don't continue to throw inilnes, or topwaters but those would be my mainstay baits for fall.
