Those muskie in that spillway are not going to live a long and prosperous life.

I know for a fact that the NGPC does not stock muskie in Salt Creek. You never know what fish can/will do to survive. All it takes is one big rain like we had this last spring and those fish may get pushed out of the spillway and downstream. Heck, we are at the height of water temperatures and they are still living in there. I remember in June when this issue was brought up and here we are today with them still surviving. This is not the main topic of the thread but I think it needs to be mentioned...The thought of them not having a chance does not pardon any illegal acitivity whether it's harvesting multiple muskies in one day (whether hook & line or bow) OR catching one and releasing it back into WT. It is no excuse! The law is the law!!!!

You and me both! They are in there, but, you have to know where the holes are and be able to eliminate non-productive water.

Have fun finding these wholes, where does that giantcreek leed to? I deer hunt that piece of wt propert that the creek leads threw and its no big stream. If its not about the kid shooting the muskie and it isnt about the fish having little of a future in the spillway, what is the point of this thread? Where do these muskie go once they somehow get swepted downstream this tiny little creek? I dont even bowfish for muskie I just dnt understand why everyone is so concerned with a few muskie being arrowed every year? Why cant you eat a muskie that was arrowed? I bet if you watch more musks are taken by fisherman than bowfisherman at wt.

Those fish were caught right after the flooding occurred which was two months ago? I have no dougbt in my mind that fish get swept down that little creek after we get three inches of rain for two days straight, lately though we have not had much rain and that little stream leading out of the spillway isnt looking to promising. My question to muskie lovers is if you spent all this money to put them in wagon train why let them drain out the other end of the lake ? Just doesnt make sense to me? Is it different for a fisherman to take a giant lure and snag these fish? Personally I would rather have a arrow threw me then snagged in my back and yanked to shore? I have seen fisherman at the spillway snagging muskies that is bull$$***** , at least I think it is.

If anyone is struggling to understand the point of the thread, here's a reminder. I typed it reallllllly slow:

"Would it behoove the muskie fishermen/women of NE to push for a "ban" on bowfishing muskies?"

"I can't help but think that the majority of people who fish Eastern NE don't have a clue what a 40" fish is in the water, they wouldn't be able to judge it."

That's a great point! Maybe we should push for a law making it illegal to snag gamefish...

Mr. Cold, it is already illegal to intentionally snag gamefish with the exception of paddlefish during paddlefish season and fowl hooked fish are to be released. Enforcement needs to happen with regulations already in place, not add more regulations.
