Default Beat the HBA Tourney ideas

Thought I'd start a new thread. The latest idea is to have a $30 entry fee, and winner takes $15 and the HBA takes $15 from each entry.

Where should we fish? Wagon Train might be cool, but we'd have to C&R right away I believe unless somebody catches a 21+" fish. We may have to do it as an "honesty" tourney if we have it there. Where else can we do this?

How many people are interested? Should we have it two on a boat, OR two on shore?

Other ideas?

  • meet in the parking lot to zero out everyones scales.
    • if someone has a scale that is in oz, and the other way we need to make sure and figure that out. .1=1.6 oz
    • Grab a 1 pound weight and zero out everyones scale
  • I don't like this "honesty" thing you speak of, i mean we are all fishermen! ha ha, but that sounds fine by me.
  • Shore and boat fishermen welcomed? (this way we will get more people)
  • Team Tournament
  • Will pass out a piece of paper to keep track of team catches
Lakes in consideration:
Twin Lakes
Wagon Train
Stage Coach
Czechland
Wild Wood
Conestoga (have never fished this)
Blue Stem (never fished this either)

No way we want to do a Bass tourney at Bluestem or even conestoga for that matter. Wildwood wouldn't be on the top of my list either.

Wagontrain, Stagecoach, and Burchard would be in my top 3 lakes to fish the tourney on.

It would be nice to use scales for the tourney but we could also just do length as well. I'm not worried about the honesty factor if we're doing it with forum guys.

Also because the area bass lakes aren't huge we can't have too many boats otherwise it might get a bit hairy. What do we think about limiting the number of teams other than HBA teams to 10?

You guys pick the right date for this and I'll be your first entry, with a partner.

Sounds very cool!

I'm thinkin April or May. What do you think Tony?
A late April Saturday sounds good to me.

Checked out the NGPC site and found the tournament registration form. Doesn't look to difficult.

here it is. http://www.ngpc.state.ne.us/fishing/...shTournApp.pdf

First thing we need to do is decide on a date. When are you fishing Grand Lake Tony?

Exactly what Drew said. WT would be the best probably. FYI, the aquatic vegetation will be serious starting the third week in April and stay that way for a month or so. Not saying we wouldn't want to fish it, just saying ...

I'd prefer a June date, fishing will be best then all things considered, but I will try to make whatever you guys decide work.

we can have more than 1 tourney!

April: pre-spawn

May: spawn

June: Post spawn

I wouldn't mind Burchard, but I would love to do it within 1 hour of Lincoln/Omaha. That way we can have more people. There is no fee to get a tournament permit, and Daryl forwarded me that form already Drew !

I think this is very plausible, and would be easy to put on. Just need to pick a date. Saturday morning work for everyone?

Forgot you were deathly afraid of the "slop" Bo...

June would probably be the best time as far as the fishing goes. I was just wanting to do it in the spring because i'll be a lot less busy then.

We'll discuss the date and get back to you guys. Thanks for showing interest!

After talking with tony it looks like we are aiming for a tournament on Saturday morning, April 26th at Wagontrain. The date is tentative right now. I'll put up a post with the specifics when we figure them all out in the next week.

Could be SLOP CITY, but I'll be there.
