Default "Husker Bass Club" - 1980's?

I used to belong to the (Omaha) Husker Bass Club that was around in the mid-80's. Is the Husker Bass Anglers club any "relation" to that club?

Just wondering if any of the "old" guys are still around... (Don <I think?) Zikas, a couple of the Caniglia's, Howie Anderson, Steve Brown (recently deceased), etc.

Thanks!

Actually, this is actually the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers, Husker Bass Angler Club. No relation.

Thanks for your reply.

I enjoyed the camaraderie of the club and learning new techniques and boating stuff. What I didn't like was that the ONLY lakes they fished were the big(ger) Missouri lakes. Maybe it was just so that they could fire-up their 150/175/200 hp outboards, and run all over the lakes at 50-70mph!

Up 'til then, the only fishing I had done was in the pristine waters of northern MN; small lures, 6-8lb line, fishing reeds, lily-pads, etc.

Going south and fishing sunken roadbeds, heck - whole TOWNS underwater (i.e. Truman), 15-25lb line, "jig-n-pig", plastics, etc. - it was all new to me.

I challenged them many times to go 200-300 miles NORTH instead, but couldn't ever get them to bite (pun intended).

Now, here it is 25 years later... and it's like learning to fish all over again. I have very limited means ($$) right now (unemployed), and very limited time/availability (have only been out 3x this year), but would like to explore hooking up with the "old club" (mostly just to say hi/get acquainted)... or... a newer one that primarily fishes locally.

Thanks.

Here's a 2005 link I just found about Howie Anderson... the founder of the Husker Bass Club (1972!). Thought it might be of interest to you?

Thanks!

Thanx for the article, Ydoc!

A comment on the "loop knot". An absolute WONDER for using with light jigs/minnow hooks! Many Bass Anglers use this knot when "walking the dog" and even on crank baits to allow for more "movement".

But, it is a 50% or less knot, so using a Jig n'Pig in the junk would NOT be a good application!
