Default Lake Wheeler Alabama

"Lake draw down shows Wheeler Lake lacking the weeds that upper Guntersville lake is so noted for. Wheeler lake, the second largest impoundment in Alabama, makes up for this very little greenery with wood and rock cover lake wide."

"Dropped 4-5 feet for winter can scatter bass that were buried up in aquatic weeds all through summer and early fall. These fish, mostly largemouth bass, relate back to the wood and rock cover that lies near deep water drop-offs.

There are some huge largemouth bass that roam shallow water (less than five feet) in search of food, for they still must eat during December, January, February and on into March."

"Most bass merely move to the nearest drop-off and cling to whatever wood , rock cover or bottom irregularity they find comfortable. Warming trends throughout the winter months can trigger some fantastic shallow water angling when these largemouth bass come to life with water temperatures in the upper 50's to low 60's at times."

Ryan and Shane: GOD I WISH I COULD FISH THIS LAKE! I am defiantly a brush fishing guy. I would highly recommend you throw a jig and trailer in the brush that drops off into the main channels. If you want, bring your Topography map to the meeting Thursday

There might be a guy who can give you pointers at the meeting on Thursday. Hoping he can make it.

We have been getting lots of good info. Got in contact with a guide that has fished the lake for 30 years and he is very willing to share info. I can't wait for it to get here.

those guys know where the big mama's live. Stress to him that you do not live around there and may not ever fish the lake again, and that you are strictly catch and release anglers. Also that last year at nationals ZERO fish died. That way he will show you not just the quality fish, but the BIG FISH!

...oh ya mako, They couldn't go because Triton didn't get us a boat. We did however get a boat for Arkansas. We are going to try and get them in a tourney in Missouri next weekend if possible.
