Bin Location/Lake: Walnut Creek
Date: 8/27/2008
Volunteer: liquidsteel
Amount of Line Collected: fishing pier: couple of handfulls of line
Misc in bin: empty tubs of night crawlers, hooks, wieghts, one red plastic worm and a couple of hooks.
Other comments: Walnut Creek needs trash cans! (I do realize some mentally-unabled people wont use them)
I picked up three walmart bags of trash from the third parking stall form the pier. Beer cans, pop cans, tater chip bags, etc..... I can only imagine if we (as a collective group) could do if we pitched in ourselves, and had the help of a maybe aBoy Scout troup or Girl Scout troop over there for 3-4 hours of clean up.
If I had a way to sponsor this and buy them lunch (hot dogs, burgers, chips and pops etc) to help out and clean up after others and hopefully show others what a good example looks like.......

Sorry to rant.

Have trashcans there. Plus,I'd rather see people put the trash in the line bins than leave it all over the ground. So how much line(no need to be exact;down to the inch will be fine. ) have you guys collected to date.

Alex

yeah, I know it's a drag, but I sorta agree with Alex. Most of the lakes have no trash cans and I know that bin at Walnut Creek gets to be a mess.

I think what we're looking at is something that NEFGA could address with an expanded trash/litter program in the future. I could see us eventually having a program to provide and service trash receptacles at our heavily used lakes.

On the other hand, I am going to have and send out to you guys vinyl lettering over the winter for the bins that reads "NO TRASH PLEASE".

Maybe that will help some.

I checked the Louisville bins again this morning. Is someone else checking those bins, too? The last two times I've check them over the last two weeks, they've been positively empty.
