I want to announce that through the efforts of kabob48, we're planning to place somewhere around 12-15 fishing line recycling bins around some of the lakes in Lincoln. We're planning for Branched Oak, Pawnee and Yankee Hill just for starters.
We're going to need some volunteers to service those bins (collect the line regularly and report here in the bin area of the forum) If you're interested in helping out with bins around the Lincoln area, please post in this thread or drop me a line. Again, a HUGE thanks to kabob48 (Rich) for his fantastic efforts in support of the fishing line recycling program!! |

I can for sure help out on managing one or more of the new bins. Just let me know what exactly I have to do, how many times a month it should be done, and at what lakes. If you guys are thinking about puting another one in at holmes (north side this time) I think that would be great and is needed, and I live just a couple blocks away. But like I said, I will help out in any way I can at whatever lake needs it. Just let me know!

Please let me know how I can help out. I would prefer not to have to drive to BO, but whatever it takes!

Once we get the OK from G&P's we'll set up where and when. Right now the only 3 sponsor requests are B.O. W.T. And Pawnee. But plan on Oak Lake, 1 more @ Holmes, yankee hill. etc. MAMachine has been doing Holmes and said ok to Oak. I can do Pawnee, if someone is closer than 20 miles from BO that would be great. how about Wagon train? any Hickman area members willing? Bins don't go w/o a volunteer to check them. Current plan is as follows:
4 Branched Oak 4 Pawnee 2 Oak Lake 1 more Holmes 2 Wagon Train 2 Yankee Hill 15 total once all donation are in. |

I would be willing to do Yankee Hill or Wagontrain (probably farther than BO just in my brain, but also a lake I fish) if no Hickman members can do it. I could also to Oak on my lunch break if Rob ever needs a break.

I can do the other bin at Holmes since I'm already checking the bin on the South side of Holmes. If any go up at Oak lake I can also check them.

First of all, BIG KADOO'S to KaBoB!
The NEFGA.ORG Fishing Line Recycling Bin Program is a MAJOR program that separates the Forum from other "chat" lines. The fact that before a bin is installed, a VOLUNTEER is recruited to maintain the bin. I don't doubt that if applied for, a large sum "trust" agency grant could be secured. But, by providing the maintenance/line removal, the NEFGA.ORG saves the property managers of the bin location from additional duties- which, so far, has resulted in only ONE refusal by a property manager to install a sponsored bin! Because the NEBRASKA Fish & Game Association is a STATE-WIDE Forum, with participants from outside NE as well- efforts are currently being made to get bins into the Western half of NE! Efforts in Chadron, Ogallala, Lexington, North Platte, Maxwell and others. The biggest hurdle to installing a bin is finding a Bin Volunteer! I currently have a sponsor and permission from the Property Manager in Ord for two bins, but am having a difficult time finding a Volunteer! Same goes for Maxwell. ANYONE that has a bin suggestion and is willing to volunteer to collect the line (and report the findings on the Line Bin page) send me a PM and I will gladly send you a packet that will assist you in finding a Sponsor. And any follow-up help that is required! Note, at the end of the "season" the line is collected by Catfishsteve and sent to Berkley for recycling into "fish habitat". He can provide that information, or simply check out the Fishing Line Recycling Bin section on this Forum! Did I mention ![]() Harold F.

I fish WT a lot. I can do WT with no problem at all! I live in South-ish Lincoln as well so it is a strait shot down 70th.

I'd be able to check one at the boat ramp area at BO. I'm there often.

I want to thank everyone who responded to our request for Bin volunteers in Lincoln. That's so cool.
Thanks to BMS Management, Scheel's in Lincoln, Lucky's Lounge and others we will start the process of getting bins placed and Lincoiln area lakes this weekend. We're going to start at Branched Oak this Saturday morning. Kabob48 and I will be in the parking lot at the Marina about 9:30 this Saturday morning and the plan is to install 3 bins around Branched Oak at that time. Additional bins will be going in a Holmes Lake, Oak Lake, Bowling lake, Pawnee and Yankee Hill in very short order. I want to thank all the sponsors and all the volunteers. I'll be in touch as the bins come on line with those of you who've volunteered and we'll get you hooked up with your bins. |
