How much cost is involved in sponsoring a bin? Is it a 1 time cost? Is the name of the sponsor on the bin somewhere? Are they a tax dedcution for the sponsor? Someone asked me about them(they saw one at Canfields I think) and I really didn't know the answer. And after working 16 hours in the last 24,I'm not too focused on reading too many threads tonite to find the answers.

Glad to hear you're working, Alex. Catfishsteve has all the answers about costs/donor recognition, and I'm sure he'll respond as soon as he sees this.

I'm not Catfishsteve, but I think I can handle the question...
A ONE-Time donation to the NEFGA.ORG of $100.00 will provide Sponsorship of a bin to a designated location. Recognition will be placed on the Bin at the Sponsor's request. The donation, at this time, is NOT tax-deductable. Chad is working on the NEFGA.ORG's 503(c) future designation. He is the one to explain... The Sponsor fee covers the cost of the Bin. The "profit" (around twenty bucks) goes to the NEFGA.ORG to aid with the Forum's costs. NO ONE is being paid milage or labor for the installations and future maintenance. This is ALL volunteer supported! With Catfishsteve's blessings, in Central Nebraska we use the following criteria for all bin installations: (1) Someone suggests a Bin be located at their favorite fishery (2) "We" attempt to find a volunteer for the Bin. This is IMPORTANT as we don't place a bin if we don't have a VOLUNTEER(s) to maintain it! (3) A SPONSOR for the Bin is found. (4) Permission from the PROPERTY MANAGEMENT is secured. Why is this LAST? Simply because the NEFGA has had only ONE Bin refused! (As far as I know.) We simply "took it elsewhere" with the Sponsors Blessings. We then coordinate a date for installation with the Property Management, the Sponsor, and the NEFGA.ORG (Catfishsteve, Bin Volunteer(s) ) and post the "install" on the NEFGA.ORG Bin Forum. Let me add, the Bin Volunteers are asked to check the bins and empty when necessary and file a report on the NEFGA.ORG Bin Report thread. At some point Catfishsteve will get them a box from Berkley, return postage PAID, for sending the line to Berkley. Berkley recycles the line. You've seen it before. It's called STREN. (Sorry, I couldn't help myself)Actually, I believe they make fish habitat structures. Finding a Sponsor has NOT been a problem for us in Central Nebraska. If a Sponsor is secured FIRST, the Bin still requires a VOLUNTEER before moving forward! Send a PM to Catfishsteve if you have a Sponsor or a Bin Location request, or if in Central NE Area, you can PM me! I will keep you and Catfishsteve informed of the progress! Or, just go to the Line Recycle Bin site on this forum, where a "wish list" has been started! Harold F.

At this time we are asking $100.00 each for bin sponsorship. Normally, we then take care of getting permission to have the bin installed and getting it put in and then we also of course, have our volunteers service it to keep the line picked up.
I would say at this time that the cost for the bin is not tax deductible as a charity, but for most of our sponsors, it certainly qualifies as a business expense for advertising, etc. |
