Default 2008 fishing line shipped back, to Berkley!!

OK, we did it!! Wow!! Pictured below is my daughter, Stephanie and the boxes of monofilament fishing line that will be shipped back to Berkley this week from the NEFGA Fishing Line Recycling Program.

There are miles and miles of fishing line in those boxes that was collected from the recycling bins we've places at lakes around Omaha and Crete this year. The line will now be shipped back to Berkley for recycling into underwater fish habitat. Isn't that cool?

I want to thank all the sponsors of the recycling bin project; Canfield's in Omaha, Scheel's Sports in Omaha, Cindy Abbott, the Crete Youth in governance council, Cabela's, Recycled Fish, Crash Davis along with Daryl Bauer and Greg Wagner of the NGPC for helping in getting this program off the ground and getting the word out about this program throughout this year.

Also, great thanks to all the NEFGA recycling line volunteers who collected the line from the bins all season long and all the NEFGA members who got the word out there and worked gathering up line at all of their favorite fishing holes as well as and all the fisherman who deposited their used fishing line into the NEFGA bins instead of allowing it to become a hazard and eyesore in the many wonderful fishing holes we have across the state of Nebraska.

This is a nice, small first step for this program. Our goals for this next year include placing bins at more lakes around Omaha with the help of the Omaha Scheel's store and also getting bins places at all the lakes in Lincoln Nebraska. We also will have a bin at the Rotary Lake in Auburn, NE in the spring thanks to the local Armstrong flooring dealer and we want to expand the reach of this program clear across the state, from Gavin's Point to the southwest reservoirs.

I'm going to start building new bins in January for new location around the state. If you would like information on having a bin at your local lake or if you would like to be a bin volunteer or otherwise assist with the NEFGA fishing line recycling forum, please PM through the forum or drop me an email at Steve.Wagle@nefga.org.

Thanks again, everyone!! Great job!!

Congrats everyone! What a great accomplishment. It's great to know tha tall that line isn't on the shore, or on the bottom of a lake somewhere.

Just think...all of that could have been thrown away, or worse, left at the lakes!

Great going guys and gals!
