Default Canfield's bins at Two Rivers

Bin Location/Lake: Two Rivers #3
Date: 4/21/09
Volunteer: OBG
Amount of Line Collected: 3 wads of line
Misc in bin: old bobber and swivel, otherwise no "junk."
Other comments: The wind had whipped the bin back and forth, loosening the nuts on the support bolts. As I was trying to repair it, a wind gust caught the sign, carrying the bolts somewhere into the nearby grass. I've taken the bin temporarily out of service until I can get back there this week with replacement bolts.

Bin Location/Lake: Two Rivers #5
Date: 4/21/09
Volunteer: OBG
Amount of Line Collected: 6 or 7 wads of line
Misc in bin: few leaves and sticks
Other comments: Nice to check it twice in a row without finding any garbage stuffed in the bin.

Roger, we started using the locking nuts on those installed out here. When replacing the missing sign at Walnut Creek North of Crete, I used Loc-tite generously on the nut and threads. That may work for you as it should eliminate the "finger" removal as well as the loosening by the wind.

Default Two Rivers #3 back in service

The bin is back up at Two Rivers #3. I'd like to see them try to unscrew it with their fingers this time! They'll have better luck chewing off the padlock.

That's funny, CFS!

Wait'l ya get the bill from OBG to "lock down" them screws!

1 drill, to drill end of screw
1 punch, to spread drilled screw end
1 dremel tool, to cut off spreaded screw end
(Forgot to put nut on first)

Total cost, $0.38.

Bin Location/Lake: Davis Creek
Date: 5/11/2009
Volunteer: Catmando (for Harold F.)
Amount of Line Collected: Very little wad, but couldn't reach the bottom.
Other comments: Lots of trash!

Trash containers were NOT available yet, at the install. But Catmando reported they were there on the 11th. Hopefully in a couple weeks when I'm up there, the trash containers being present will alleviate that situation. At least to some degree...

Side note: Catmando said the Fishin' SUCKED. Snagged some Carp and caught some Drum. Inlet is half-way up and into the rocks. No crappie OR walleye witnessed being caught. Barometer below 30 and still falling.

Default Canfield's bins at Two Rivers

Bin Location/Lake: Two Rivers #3
Date: 5/30/09
Volunteer: OBG
Amount of Line Collected: several wads of line
Misc in bin: Two pop cans, assorted weights, three big rusty hooks tied to 80-lb. test line with double granny knots
Other comments: You have to wonder about the mentality of anyone who literally has to reach over a trash barrel to deposit his pop can in the recycling tube.

Bin Location/Lake: Two Rivers #5
Date: 5/30/09
Volunteer: OBG
Amount of Line Collected: at least a dozen wads of line
Misc in bin: few assorted split shot and hooks, leaves and sticks
Other comments: Someone is checking this bin for me between my visits. The padlock was secured to the end of the chain, and I always clip it as close to the bottom of the bin as possible. Who's my mystery helper?

That's funny, right there...

BTW, PhD, Slimdog has a Berkley Box from Catfishsteve. Next time (and in the future) you are in Kearney we can get your stash to Slim!
