This is a recipe that has worked well for me for them people who say the fish is to fishy tasting. The Beer and onions kinda get rid of that so called fish taste. works real well with catfish nugets.

1/2 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup flour
2 eggs, beaten
1 12-ounce beer
1/4 cup minced onion
peanut oil
salt and pepper to taste
other seasoning

Mix flower and cornmeal together in one bowl. In another bowl mix Egg, beer and minced onions make sure you mix it well. Put catfish in flour then egg and beer then back in flour. fry tell golden brown and enjoy .

I useally dump the flour mix in 2 sepret gallon zip lock bag. put the nuggets in shake em up in the bag put in beer mixture then put back in another bag of flour and shake up again. seems to caut them very nicely.

You can soak your filets in water with about 1-2tsp baking soda for an hour and that will eliminate the fishy taste as well
Chances are if the fish tastes fishy it is because it is old and starting to rot or ill-prepared (usually overcooked)

Soak them in salt water overnight , when frying Cat it's the only way I will prepare them , the salt water removes a lot of that strong taste of any fish ...

The saltwater also gets rid of that muddy flavor that cats tend to get in lakes in eastern NE

Soaking and or freezing your fillets and catfish in milk works best.

Default fisy tasteing catfish

I have found that bleeding the fish before cleaning does wonders for removing that taste. Cut off the tail and let them drain for a bit then go ahead and fillet, remove the red and belly yellow meat ,fry and enjoy.

Bleeding is the best advice that I've heard so far. Deer need bled, as do catfish. Do it

I find that a twelve pack of beer works wonders for that fishy taste. I prepare the fish as normal (throw it in a pan or on the grill. Sit back will it cooks and drink the twelve pack. When the fish is done I do not notice the fishy taste at all.

I've never heard anyone complain about beef tasting "beefy", or chicken tasting "chickeny", or pork tasting "piggy". So, if fish shouldn't taste "fishy" what should they taste like?

I usually marinate or soak the filets in buttermilk in the fridge for a couple of hours. Mellows out the muddy taste you get sometimes with catfish in the warmer months.
