Seriously add a little of your favorite steak seasoning to it and fry it in butter and be sure its rare. Over cooking it makes it tough and livery. Totally changes the flavor.

Also can grill it. Wrap some bacon around it for even more flavor and to prevent it from drying out.

Dont waste teal in the crock pot or jerky............ ill slap ya! ha

Get some 'asparagus stirfry' from HyVee. Put a little oil in a very hot pan and then throw your chopped up teal breast into there. Let it cook about halfway through (about 1 mins). Throw the stirfry veggies and noodles in and add your favorite asian sauce from the ethnic foods aisle and reduce the heat and cook till the veggies are hot and cooked. Its pretty much amazing, super quick and only takes one pan.

Teal is also great in your favorite stroganhoff recipe. Any waterfowl meat is awesome cooked this way, I often use canada goose breast meat, but teal is alot more tender than goose so I would highly reccommend you try cooking it up like beef stroganhoff only with teal breast.

This is exactly how I make mine. I even use that asapargus stir fry mix. Except I buy it at wally world.

I just happen to work at a company that makes different kinds of stir fry sauces. So I get them for free. AWESOME!

Check out Lotus Frozen Foods: Egg Rolls - Wontons - Sauces in MN and inquire via email or

try this one from Lincoln.

Home - Sauces from Wok on Old Cheney. See the list on the website of where they sell them at.

Buy the Hot braised sauce. I love that one.

I'll check those out Ty. The sauce I use is pretty easy to find. Its in a glass bottle and its called "House of Tsang" theres a bunch of flavors and they are all pretty legit and you can make up your own favorite cocktail!

Ya that asparagus stirfry is made by Birdseye brand of frozen veggies. Its kinda tough to find and goes off the shelves pretty quick after its stocked, so if you get a chance by a bunch of bags!

Tonight just took some breast and cut into strips, dipped in egg, floured then fried in butter. My 5 year old is going nuts and wants more. He loves eating the game we shoot.

Im pretty sure Teal can bout be eatin straight off the carcass and still taste good. If you cook it any way, and DONT like it, PLEASE never again shoot another duck or goose and waste the resource.

With that said...

I like stir-frys like mentioned above, make me feel like Im eating healthy and good. Plus they are FAST!!

I love cooking fowl and once you get afew things down its really hard to screwup and tweak it here and there for new tastes.

Few things that are MANDATORY in the kitchen....

Montreal steak seasoning
jalapeno peppers
garlic
various cajun seasonings...beleive me, the cajuns know their stuff!!
bacon
cream cheese
mushrooms
onions
liquid smoke

With alittle of this and that of any of what I mentioned you are well on your way to GREAT and FAST eats.

Default duck

My favorite is to soak it in Zesty Italian salad dressing for 24 hours, add to a kabob with potatoes, peppers, onions, mushrooms and jalapeno peppers and then place on the grill till done. mmmmm Makes my mouth water thinking of it.

Default Grilled Teal Poppers

My favorite Teal recipe similar to others posted. Slice the breast slightly. Add a slice of jalapeno and little cream cheese before wrapping it with bacon. Put them on toothpicks that were soaked in water to prevent the toothpick from burning away while cooking. These will hold the tasty treat together. Place them on the grill. The downside when making these at a game feed is they never get onto a plate from the grill as they are constantly stolen as people wonder around.

I like to brown them, and bake them @350 for about 40 minutes with cream of chicken. Put that over some rice and you're good to go! I've never had a duck so tender any other way!
