Default Stuffers

Those of you that stuff their own sausage, what kind of stuffers do you use? I inherited an old cast iron stuffer from my grandfather that I really liked, but it finally broke on me. Time for a new one and looking for reviews. thx

I can't remember what brand I have but I got it from Northern Tool and supply. It was 5# stuffer. I'll check to see the brand when I get home and post it. I've been pleased with it. At the time it was pretty well discounted.

that still isn't the worst price I've seen. Beats the junk that Cabelas sells.

You can read the reviews there too. I've been happy with it. Its got plastic gears but I think if ya take care of it it would last.

I've had good luck with the 11# vertical stuffer from cabelas. Kind of pricey at $300 but works like a dream.

I have a couple of friends who got the cabelas ones and said they broke right away. Not sure what they were. The reviews don't look good either. That a manual one B & C or electric? Wish I could find another cast iron one, most now days have all those dang plastic pieces on them.

It was this one

Giant waste of time! Good thing Cabelas has that return policy. Most of the meat would squeeze through it, the only size casing it would work on were the summer sausage ones. I just bought the attachment for my kitchenaid and all is well now!

Yeah that thing just looks like junk. Wife has a kitchen aide, I might have to see if I can go that route.

Buy a grinder with a stuffer attachment on it next time.

I got this Cabelas commercial grade one and it comes with 3 different sizes of stuffer tubes and works awesome. I just have the wife keep feeding it and it comes out perfect.

Also since its from Cabelas they take anything back if you have problems with it. Especially if it has their name on the side of it. Great customer service.

The one pictured is NOT like the one I got. It is essentially a big tube (holds approx 11#) and has a crank handle which drives a plunger (the only plastic on it) down the tube and forces the sausage out the bottom into the casing.

Cabela's Commercial-Grade Vertical Stuffers

It worked well for us, stuffed 15# of potato sausage and 15# of summer sausage in 1/2 hr. I had read the reviews of the one with the handle, sounds like it takes a lot of elbow grease to run. This one is really easy, and assembles/takes down easy.

I've got the attachment on my grinder. It sucked big time though. I'd still be stuffing 1 summer sausage from yesterday if I continued. I know cabelas has some good customer service, but that wouldn't mean much to me if I sat there with 40lbs of ground meat and a broken stuffer.

See this:

That is a sausage stuffer. Mine was a lot more clean than this one, but it worked great. I remember stuffing with this when I was a little kid. Who knows how long Grandpa had it before that. I used it quite a bit the 6 years after his passing, but unable to screw the plate on anymore. What I wouldn't give to get one of these back.

On a totally unrelated note. Just went out to the garage and got a huge dose of the after smoking smell. That will last about 2 weeks. What a great smell!

With my cabelas grinder I did 20 lbs of sausage in exactly 32 mins. I actually timed it because I to be somewhere and was late. haha
