I have a 1957 2 stroke 18 hrs Johnson outboard motor. I added sta-bil to the fuel and drove it around for several hours last sunday. Somebody told me that's all I have to do. Somebody else told me I don't have to do anything because it's a 2 stroke. People at my job just told me I have to drain the oil out of my lower unit. I am having trouble finding information on old, small, 2 stroke motors. Does anyone have a motor like this or maybe has had one and knows what to do?:SM_motorboat:

Do they come much bigger!?

I'd never seen some but about half that big a few times.

That's my 20 guage, layed down there for comparison. That puffball was at least 18 inches across at it widest and nearly a foot tall!!

Anybody happen to see the huge deer on the side of the road? The deer was lying on the south side of the Platte River bridge on I80 between Omaha and Lincoln. It was lying right on the west side of the bridge on the right hand side of the road in the east bound lane. I was just wandering if anybody got a better look at it then me it look to be at least a very large 5x5 and probably bigger and if you are on 80 heading toward Omaha maybe take a look.

I'm not much for rifle hunting so I decided to spend the weekend chasing birds with the dogs. Saturday morning started off great! The first three birds the dogs got up were roosters and all went in the bag. Before I got out of the field (walk-in CRP) the pup (2 years old this Friday), locked up and pointed another rooster that I happily watched fly away cackling. Ended up flushing another rooster before I got out of the field.

Saw some antelope that morning too. Here are the pics:

Hey, look over there....
Image: http://i534.photobucket.com/albums/ee346/buglem/Hunting%202009/PheasantswithJustin13.jpg

Sunday I went out pheasant hunting with BDowner. We were walking a small corner near a standing cornfield when the dogs started getting a little birdy. I looked up ahead and there was a flock of turkeys sneaking out the end into the cornfield. I yelled at Justin and we headed toward them. By the time we got there, only one turkey was still in sight. Justin had shot his first turkey just a couple weeks ago so I let him have first shot at it. The tom took off flying and Justin nailed him out of the air. I don't think the dogs quite knew what to think of it.

Turned out to be a great tom! Probably weighed about 20 pounds, had 1 inch spurs and the kicker - 3 bears! One was 10", the other two were 7". We managed to get a couple of roosters to boot. It was a great day!

Review Hero of the Underground: Jason Peter

10 out of 10 for me.
The whole biography is 276 pages but I finished it in about 3 hours. All in all it was THE BEST BOOK I have ever read, it was very "colorful" in language, and showed Peters triumphs, and also Peter's lows, like when he was tweaking after he suffered a career ending injury let my just type the first paragraph of the book on here.
I wasn't afraid of death. How could I be? I lived under death's shadow every day. When you swallow sixty Vicodin, twenty sleeping pills, drink a bottle of vodka, and still survive, a certain sense of invulnerability stays with you. When you continually use drugs with the kind of reckless determination that I did, the limit to how much heroin or crack you can ingest is not defined by dollar amounts but by the amounts your body can withstand without experiencing a seizure or respiratory failure. Yet at the end of every binge, every night of lining up six, seven, eight crack pipes and hitting them one after the other bam! bam! bam! every night of smoking and snorting bag after bag of heroin... after all of that, when you still wake up to see the same dirty sky over you as the night before, you start to think that instead of dying, maybe your punishment is to live-to be stuck in this purgatory of self-abuse and misery for an eternity. Sometimes you start to think that death would come as a blessed relief... As you can tell it just GRABS you and won't let go. This book is a steal at the $6 Amazon.com is asking for it!!!

I have never seen such an odd buck in person. This guy was shot on my families farm by the son of one of the guys that lease a cabin spot along the Elkhorn. Strange thing is, we had never seen him, or got any pics of him on any trail cams. (Until today...)
Image: http://www.nefga.org/forum/picture.php?albumid=330&pictureid=15562
If you look at his left front leg, either he was injured when he was young or it was a birth defect. You could not move or straighten-out that leg, and there is no muscle on that leg. I guess before he was shot he was chasing a doe around, three-legged. Kind of reminds me of a T-Rex arm...

From "Bumpus Bites"

*Great Park Pursuit Quite a Trip *
LINCOLN, Neb. – For some people, the Great Park Pursuit wasn't about winning a prize, but an opportunity to visit places they had never been.

"We did not do it for the prize, but that was a nice bonus," said Amy Cole of Lincoln, whose team earned one of the grand prizes in the annual event. "Our goal was not to win. The goal was to see how many parks we could hit."

Cole, her husband and two boys made up the Explorers team, one of five to select grand prizes for their reward. The Explorers chose a camping package.

The Great Park Pursuit, adopted from a similar outdoor initiative started by the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection, involves a challenge to visit Nebraska parks.

Participants follow clues to collect nature-based impressions from posts hidden in each of the selected parks. Prizes and entry into drawings are based on the number of tracings collected.

"If we had to rate it 1 to 10 with 10 being the best, we would rate it a 20," Cole said. "I would definitely do it again next year."

The second annual Pursuit concluded in September. The other grand prize winners, with team name, hometown, and prize package selected, are: The Mighty Campers, Fremont, bicycling; Girls Day Out, Bellevue, cycling; Orr Factor, Grand Island, camping; and Heller Family, Omaha, bicycling.
The Old Nit Wits team of Lincoln won the Nebraska football ticket package and the Pekny Bunch of Burwell won the two-night stay at a state park cabin.

The success of the Pursuit may be seen in its increased participation. The number of participants increased 6.5 percent from last year, the number of teams was up 10.6 percent and the number of park visits rose 100.9 percent.

The Pursuit also got people of all ages out to the parks, especially youth. Of the 1,975 total participants, 764 were age 14 or younger.

"We have always tried to get our kids outside," said Cole, whose children are 3 and 6 years old. "The Pursuit is a good way to get the family outdoors and not spend a lot of money doing it."

The participating parks in 2009 were: Fort Robinson State Park (SP), Crawford; Central Park, Alliance; Ash Hollow State Historical Park (SHP), Lewellen; Kelley Park, McCook; Bessey Ranger District of the Nebraska National Forest, Halsey; Calamus State Recreation Area (SRA), Burwell; Cowboy Trail, Norfolk; Scenic Park, South Sioux City; Lewis and Clark Landing, Omaha; Walnut Creek Lake and Recreation Area, Papillion; Platte River SP, Louisville; Indian Cave SP, Shubert; Pioneers Park, Lincoln; Pawnee Park, Columbus; and Stolley Park, Grand Island.

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission joined the Nebraska Recreation and Park Association to develop the program. The goal was to encourage a healthier lifestyle for participants while increasing awareness of the nature-rich outdoor recreation opportunities in the state. The 2009 program was sponsored by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

Question Power auger motors

Just started ice fishing the last couple years and the hand auger is killing me. Looking at a couple models. Eskimo's new motors are 1.8 hp and 43cc, 8" blade or 2.1 hp with 51.7cc. 25:1 gear ratio. Compare that to Strikemasters new Solo motor, it's 37cc with 2hp. 40:1 gear ratio. I am leaning towards the Eskimo 51.7cc. due to the larger cubic inch but the Strikemaster is 4 lbs lighter. Any advice which one to go with. I think I will stay with a chipper blade as sometimes I get into sand and dirt in the ice.
Thanks for any help on this.
