Going to have to go with Nelson over Rickets...and I'm a republican.

I appreciate Nelson's comments on Natural Resources...click here for his views. I don't really even think this is on Ricketts' radar screen. Ricketts touts his NRA membership and that's all fine and great, but Nelson is endorsed by them and several other groups with interests in hunting, fishing, and NR conservation.

Voting for Nelson.

Why?

Rickets seems thinks its a BAD thing that Nelson is a hunter.

Nelson. Plus, My work endorses him for my benefits, pay, retirement, etc. I'd appreciate it if everyone would vote for him.:d I really don't think Ricketts has a chance to win. I really think that anyone who runs for office could win hands down if they would just stick to the issues and not get into the name calling and down-grading of their opponent.

Yep...you can say that again. Inside polling from both campaigns shows an 18 to 20 point deficit. I doubt that will carry through on election day, but this is definitely not going to be a close one.

Nothing against Pete, just can't see how he's going to do a better job than Ben...now, if only Pete were running against Chuckie...

Just wondered what everyone else thought before I voiced my opinion.

I know how these posts can go.

So anyone out there voting for Ricketts? HAHA

From what I know about Senator Nelson he has not done anything that would make me not vote for him. I believe he can stand on his record. Also I am not impressed with Mr Ricketts campaign style.

Just heard a radio ad with Hagel endorsing Ricketts, he say's something to the effect that Pete has the maturity for this job and how much he trust him blah blah blah. Maturity? has he seen any of his adds?:znono:

"Ol' Ben Nelson has some turkeys on his farm, eeee ayyy eee, ayyy, ohhh!"

That was too much.

Plus, Rickets make Nelson shoot an olde-time shotgun with the flared barrel in that ad. I think it's called a blunderbus.

LOL.

No soup for you Rickets!

Yes, the most progressive, modern, and free place on earth is a terrible place to live. How unfortunate that we are able to drive the best cars in the history of the planet, eat three meals a day, sleep in heated homes, enjoy healthcare that is second to none, pursue the highest levels of education, choose any career we want, and recreate outdooors with our extra income -- income that probably exceeds the annual wages of folks living in countries where the only art they are able to hang on their walls reflects the leaders that persecute them, kill their family members, and squash their dreams.

Is that too harsh?

While at this point he has little chance at winning, David Hahn will get my vote. He appears to have an open mind towards issues and isn't simply waving the party flag.

Also, he supports industrial hemp which most politicians are afraid of b/c of the negative connotations that go along with anything hemp. Aside from its obvious benefits such as bio-fuels, fiber, paper, etc that can be derived from hemp, it also makes good sense for NE farmers. In NE where we most likely will continue to have drought/water issues, it would make sense to grow products that are true 'weeds'. They require little water to grow.

Its amazing to me that most if not all of our elected officials can shy away from this and other issues that make sense for NE. It isn't just this issue for him, its his ability to be open minded towards these issues.

And I am voting for Ben, not overly thrilled with him, but no big problems either. He also seems to be able to vote with an open mind on occasion.

I may be wrong, but I vaguely recall reading somewhere that the US government once promoted hemp growing in Nebraska (Spanish-American War or WWI era?), and there supposedly was a processing plant to separate the fiber near North Bend. This had something to do with the supply of "Manila hemp" being threatened, as hemp was considered vital to our national defense (mooring lines for warships?). Anybody else ever hear about this?

(Sorry to lead your thread so far astray, but I kinda like the idea of linking rope to politicians.)
