Default is this fish still alive or is it reflexes?

this seems really cruel if it's still alive. They cook the lower portion of the fish but not the head to keep it alive.

I think it's still alive. That's about the rarest cooked dish I've ever seen.

Too rare for me. I bet PETA would be all over that.

I guess I could play smart alec, pointy-headed fish biologist and ask, "How do you define "alive""? Brain activity? Heart beat? I am betting that fish still had brain activity and a heart beat. Was it suffering? Probably not. The nervous system of that fish is not the same as that of a human, so we cannot assume that they experience "pain" in the same way we do. As a matter of fact, much of "pain" is a reflex, and humans add the emotion to it.

Who cares what PETA thinks about it? Some people eat raw fish. I know that the best way to have the highest quality on the table is to keep the fish fresh. That carp was fresh.

And yes, I bet it still tasted like carp.

I never say something would taste like **** unless I have tried it. I have tried carp (at the carp-o-rama) and other "weird" foods and come to find out they are really good.

It would be a little weird eating a fish that was still moving, but I would try it. It would probably be good too!

Reminds me of something you would see on the TV show "Bizzare Foods with Andrew Zimmerman". That guy will eat anything!
