Default Some very interesting ideas on climate variation

here's an interesting article...primarily presented in 'opinion' form...but I found some really interesting ideas stuck 'here and there' inside...some of the more intriguing are Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) and the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (AMO).

events that seem to take 20-40 years to occur...

It's also a fascinating article in that it provides a brief insight into continued scientific study to learn more...and indicates that we are far from a 'final answer' with apologies to 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire'...

That is indeed an interesting article. I also read an article today in the latest issue of Outside magazine that addressed the new tactic some world conservation organizations are adopting. Instead of kicking people out of their homes and off their lands in order to save certain species of animals, they're realizing the necessity and benefit of working with native peoples to conserve the wildlife in these areas.

The article said these groups are rethinking decades-old practices because they're realizing that they don't work - people kicked off their lands, in order to survive, are going back onto the new wildlife preserves and poaching, cutting down trees, etc.

One of the comments in the article was that, "Not everyone in the world is an affluent American or European white person who wants to go out for a leisurely afternoon hike," or something very close to that.

Here is some food for thought.

Well, I'll be damned.

Is it alright to be a skeptic now?

on that note, think about the challenges that would be faced by a whole host of species and animals as an ice age commences...compressing temperate climates...and compressing acceptable habitat for existing species...further increasing human/animal interactions...and not necessarily in a good way...

and too, our need, interestingly enough, for fossil fuel goes up or some other source of heating...and we'll find that truly, we can't produce enough CO2 to warm it back up...

Now, consider this, the world needs food. So more, much more slash/burn has to take place at our equators to move rainforests into production agriculture...

talk about the end of the world...people will need to choose: do WE live or do we just follow 'jim jones' and end it all now...
