Ok, I can't think of one TV series in my lifetime that I actually watched regularly and I'm not even a sci-fi fan at all, but I gotta admit that this show has caught my attention somewhat.

It might turn out to be stupid, but there's something about the whole revolutionary, against the mob aspect of the show that I find intriguing from watching the previews.

Just curious what others think of it. I know its supposed to be a remake of some old series from the 80's, but I hope its actually unique and doesn't get completely stupid like "Lost" or "Heroes". Ugh how does anybody watch that crap. This might be the first TV show ever that I might try to watch and follow from the start, that is until it turns into another one of ABC's "make the plot up as you go, never tie up any loose ends, and make it so far-fetched that there's no way to possibly make an ending to the series that makes sense" series.

I rarely watch t.v. though funny considering we have 6 of them in the house, but this series caught my attention as well.

The 80s series has been running on the SciFi, whoops, SyFy channel the last week. I forgot that Marc "Beastmaster" Singer starred in the first series. I went as a Visitor for Halloween way back then, complete with red technician jumpsuit, hat, and skin peeling off my face to reveal my reptilian core...

LOL, do you have any pictures of that?

So the Visitors are actually reptiles disguised as humans?? Sounds pretty cheezy, but I think I'll still watch it.

The Office is probably one of the funniest shows of all time. I usually forget its on though and rarely catch it. The only tv I really watch is the History Channel specials when I can, College Football when I'm not fishing first, and whenever the Saints play if I'm not fishing. Oh yea, and I like to catch the last 20 laps of the Nascar races, when I'm not fishing as well.

Now that you're 40+ I'm sure your "skillz" are not-notch. Fess up and let see the photos from this year's Halloween! I'm willing to bet you've still got the jumpsuit!

I see previews for "Always Sunny..." when I watch my guilty pleasure show that will remain nameless (even though we ARE talking about "V"), but have yet to watch it. It is viewable "On Demand" so once I get caught up on DVR'd shows I'll have to check it out.

'V' aims at Obamamania -- chicagotribune.com

Quote:
Imagine this. At a time of political turmoil, a charismatic, telegenic new leader arrives virtually out of nowhere. He offers a message of hope and reconciliation based on compromise and promises to marshal technology for a better future that will include universal health care.

The news media swoons in admiration -- one simpering anchorman even shouts at a reporter who asks a tough question: "Why don't you show some respect?!" The public is likewise smitten, except for a few nut cases who circulate batty rumors on the Internet about the leader's origins and intentions. The leader, undismayed, offers assurances that are soothing, if also just a tiny bit condescending: "Embracing change is never easy."

So, does that sound like anyone you know? Oh, wait -- did I mention the leader is secretly a totalitarian space lizard who's come here to eat us?

Welcome to ABC's "V," the most fascinating and bound to be the most controversial new show of the fall television season. Nominally a rousing sci-fi space opera about alien invaders bent on the conquest (and digestion) of all humanity, it's also a barbed commentary on Obamamania that will infuriate the president's supporters and delight his detractors.

always sunny in philadelphia is great, but I still have not found a show to match Arrested Development

If the show gets people thinking and questioning current issues, I think thats a good thing regardless of which side you're on. It looks like its gonna be a cool show either way. ABC is probably just thinking about the ratings they'll receive from a show that parallels current events. Its kinda like the apocolyptic 2012 movie coming out. The 2012 movie is going to generate interest from everyone because its entertaining to deal with issues we face today, but I highly doubt that most people that go to see that movie think the world is really gonna end in 2012, nor do I think its the intention of the movie to get people to believe that it is.

If I were a betting man, I would guess at some point there will be an alien/human hybrid baby like they did in the orginal series.

I'm not much of a fan of remakes in general.

not to derail the thread, but i think 2012 looks horrible, I am a little upset of the timing of 2012 movie, there is another movie coming out called "The Road" Cormac McCarthy wrote the book "The Road" and it was truly an amazing book, read it 3 times now and each time it's just as good as the last. Basic concept is a father and his young son traveling down a road after an apocalyptic event, trying to survive. And the unthinkable things you may have to do to keep your child alive. The book never mentions what happened to the world, i am sure the movie will explain that, but the book is good because it makes you imagine what happened, anyway, I am still looking forward to seeing the movie.

the opening line of the book really sets the stage of the rest of the story:

"When he woke in the woods in the dark and the cold of the night he'd reach out to touch the child sleeping beside him. Nights dark beyond darkness and the days more gray each one than what had gone before. Like the onset of some cold glaucoma dimming away the earth."

Well, the first episode was eh... It was ok. Kept me interested enough to watch the next one for now, but it wasn't quite the mind grabbing show I thought it would be. The whole lizards in disguise thing kinda ruined it a little bit for me.

After the first episode, it's not as political as the previews made it seem or the Chicago Tribune article. Just an entertaining conspiracy theory show. I was actually hoping that it would be just a little more politically provocative. Would definitely make it more fun to watch. I'd have a hard time seeing Obama supporters getting upset over this show like the article states, but maybe Obama supporters really are all space lizards in disguise. It may get more political in later episodes, but like I said earlier, I can't see ABC of all networks intending to raise doubt about Obama.

That "The Road" movie looks awesome. I had seen a preview for that not too long ago. I had no intention of wasting my money on seeing 2012, but this other movie looks like it could be good. That 2012 just looked like pure CHEEEEEEEEEZ to me. Almost like a remake of "The Day after Tomorrow". Dang, that movie sucked.

you should read the book before the movie (the road) or better yet, they have a Book on CD at the library, its only 6 hours total, and the narrator does a good job at setting the tone.

if you get the CD version, be sure and find the one narrated by

Tom Stechsculte

his style is much better and more fitting for the story as the other narrated floating around.
