Default Homemade peppermint schnapps!!!

Haven't posted in a while, but I wanted to share the recipe I use for peppermint schnapps. It's strong, smooth, and just in time for the up and comming holidays with the inlaws!

Ingredients:
10 cups of water
2 1/2 cups of sugar
1 750ml bottle of Everclear
2 oz peppermint extract

Stir sugar into water as it is being heated to a boil

After the mixture reaches a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes

Cool mixture to room temperature <-- if you add the booze while it's hot, it won't taste right. If you're in a hurry, have the Everclear in the freezer so when you toss it in, it gets cooled faster.

Stir in 750ml of Everclear (whatever brand, as long as it's 190proof grain) and 2 oz. of peppermint extract.

Stir it up a bit, and put it in bottles, I always keep a few empty vodka bottles around for this annual brewing of the schnapps.

HINT: For those of you in Columbus, there is a liquor store near the main railroad overpass, west side of street. Can't remember the name, but they have generic brand grain alcohol thats about 3-4 bucks a bottle cheaper than everclear. If anyone knows of the place, post it up for others.

CHEERS!!

Got a recipe for Dr. McGillicuddy's mentholatum schnapps? That is a
must-have for ice fishing.

Nah, I think Stu's got it in the right place. The recipe section is for FISH AND GAME. This recipe is neither of those.

Why am I led to believe that Stu was "testing" the recipe' when his avatar photo was taken?

Ah yes... apple pie... The precise kind of apple cider needs to be used when making this. I finally found it on display in a store for the first time in a YEAR. I was so excited, i bought 8 gallons of it.

Harold- I was sober in that pic. If that gives you any indication of how dumb I am when i have a few...

Is that just mint schnapps instead of peppermint? I'd say, you could try my recipe, and just put mint in instead of peppermint
