LINCOLN, Neb. – Cottontail rabbit season in Nebraska’s opens Sept. 1 and continues through Feb. 28, 2009. The daily bag limit is seven, the possession limit is 28. Shooting hours are 30 minutes before sunrise to sunset. A 2008 Nebraska hunting permit and habitat stamp are required and may be purchased online from the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s Web site at
www.OutdoorNebraska.org, from a Commission office or any of some 900 permit vendors across the state. The resident annual hunting permit costs $14, a nonresident annual hunting permit is $81, and the Nebraska Habitat Stamp, is $16. Also pick up a free copy of the 2008 Nebraska Guide to Hunting Public Lands, which has information about hunting regulations and public hunting lands across the state.
