Hey guys I am in need of some new tires for my Silverado and just thought I would check to see what some of you recommended or would not recommend for me to put on my truck. They are P265/70R17 on it now. Never had to buy new tires for it so some input would be great. From the dealer it has Bridgestone duelers on it which have been a great tire for me but am open to suggestions. Looking for the best/cheapers place to purchase them and have them put on as well. Anyone every bought them online and shipped to you? Looking to spend no more than $150 per tire if possible.
Thanks Layne |

try the tire rack tirerack.com
they have great prices and all the tires have stats and reviews. There is a brand out there called Kumho, the are really tires for a decent price. I used their race compound when I was racing SCCA and alot of guys are currently running them. I have used a set of the all season touring model on one of my cars and they were as good as the Michelins that were on it prior.

Are you looking for an agressive tread, or an average hwy cruiser? I know lots of folks that like BFG's, they grip well, but seem to wear fast with my experiences.

One of my roomates last year ordered some tires online, not sure but I think he used tirerack and got them a lot cheaper than he would have at a store.

I agree with looking around online. Just be aware that some places won't mount tires unless you buy them at their store. They don't want to be responsible for "messing up" the tires/rims.

Yea the thing is to remember that most places mount and balance the tires for free if you buy them there. Thats about a $60-$100 value in itself if you think about it.
Also most places carry the cheap warranty with their new tires for a small fee that is totally worth it. Id be careful with online. Ever try the small town tire places? Most of them usually charge 5-10 over cost per tire. I know in Stanton up here thats all they do. We used to order them tires.

Oh yea if you buy Goodyear, Dunlop, or Kelly tires you are directly helping the American worker and more importantly right here in Nebraska in the Lincoln plant and Norfolk plant.
P.S. I also might just have some rebates on those tires if your interested. PM ME. ![]()

online is fine, I have never bought tires local in the past 15 years. As far as mounting, it will cost as compared to being free when you buy the tires from the store. But most places like TO Haas will do it for a reasonable amount.
To be honest the online places turn tires over faster so their stock is newer. Many local places have "new" tires they use that have been in their storage for 2-3 years and that is not good. Always check the manf. date on the tire, anything older than 6 months or so I would not accept.

Depends on what you're looking to do with them. I'm real happy with my Goodyear Silent Armors. But if you're running a 1500 you most likely don't need the load range 'E's like I have. Cooper Discoverer is a decent tire.
I have to agree, buy American- our workers need all help we can get.

The point he was trying to make is; Lincoln's plant makes belts and hoses.

Keep an eye out on craigs list and ebay for 'Take Offs'. If you want a non-aggressive tire I'll be willing to bet you kind find some cheap 'take offs' from someone. I've picked a set of bridgestones up off of ebay for a spare set of wheels. (non agressive bridgestones)
Last set of tires I got for my 91 stang were a set of humho from tire rack. Usually their is a local dealer that will work with tire rack in regards to shipping etc. They were CHEAP and I couldn't beat the price for what they offered. (tire rack) Another option that a friend did on his full size chevy was Sams Club where he went with I think 315 BFG's. He said sams club offered him the best price he could find in town locally. I'll second the vote for Kumho tires, one of the best wearing offroad style tire on the market in my opinion, and at moderate prices, especially in their at (all terrian) design, even the last set of mt's(mud traction) style tires I bought are at 55,000 miles or so with lots of paved driving miles on them,as for a highway style tire the goodyears at walmart do a fine job on the wifes van $120 apeice with mounting, lifetime balancing, and road hazzard. thats not too bad in my book.

Looking into maybe going with Nitto Tire - High Performance Tires for Car and Truck Enthusiasts
Seems to be a good tire from what I have read and talked to a few guys about. Best price of any tire that I can find so far as well... just over $600 out the door. Layne |

Those actually look like decent tires Layne, for what its worth I emailed Nitto and their tires are made in both the US and Japan.

Thanks Ryan.... I guess hopefully the ones I buy are made here in the US but even if they are made in Japan I guess I will not be helping US out but I will still be helping ME out by keeping some extra cash in the checking account.

I have the Nitto Terra Grapplers 285 70R/17 on my Tahoe and love them. They look aggressive and perform awesome. I got them at Walker tire in Omaha. They were cheaper than the Walker here in Lincoln.
