Default I Heart Crappie

Crappie. I like crappie. Them's good eatin'.

Crappie. I hate crappie. I hate how I can't EVER EVER NEVER catch a big one on public water, even though every yahoo that's ever wet a line is bringing 'em home by the bucketfull.

I love crappie. I love how they look. I love how my kids freak out when they've got one on the line. I love being able to any number of places close to home and know I'll get bit. I love that they're called all sorts of crazy names like "papermouth," "sac-a-lait," "strawberry bass" and "moonfish." I love having the last cold filet the next day on a sandwich.

That's it. I'm saying it loud and I'm saying it proud.

I'm a crappie lover!

So Yesterday May 2nd I Caught 17 Crappie Which 14 Went 2 Pounds Or Better. The Time To Catch Them Is In The Next Couple Of Days. On Public Lakes Find Where You Can See Sunken Trees Or Logs. In Omaha Standing Bear By The Dam Where That Dead Body Was Found Is Good Place. Run A Tube Jig White Head And Black Body Fish Are Feeding On These Grubs That Flow Into The Substrate And Thats Where You Need To Be Trust Me.

I'm moving to the Omaha area (actually, Louisville) and my son and are looking to find a few good places to catch some crappie...my favorite fish to catch. I saw your post and figured you'd be a good person so ask. Any suggestions for good places to take my son within 1-2 hrs of Omaha?

Thanks for your help.
