Is this a racer of some kind?

looks like a juvenile watersnake to me. did you find it near water? they are usually light brown/gray with a white underside.

It was in my basement, I find several around the yard during the year. Heres another pic.

well, i think now it's a brown snake. i've found a couple and they do resemble a racer... i caught one and thinking it was racer as well i took it to a guy that would know and he said it was a brown snake.

I have seen a few of these south of Beatrice. Never heard of a brown snake. They always slip thru the long grass before I can get a hold of them to check'em out.
