Default My turn for a couple herp pics.

Didn't expect to run across this today, but as I was kayaking on a local river I could see a "hot" swimming across the water up ahead. I could tell it was a venomous because of how it swam and when I got close enough to ID it I was pleasantly surprised. I've only seen a small handful of these down here and they are very skittish so until today I've never got a decent picture of one. This is the first one I've been able to photograph, so I was pretty happy.

Juvenile Copperhead

LOl. Believe me I was tempted. But my camera has no zoom, and being that I was a solid 2 hrs of heavy paddling from reaching my truck and then another 45 minutes to the nearest hospital, I figured I'd be wise to settle with the pictures I had. I do hear copperheads are supposedly the least venomous of the vipers in North America. A co-worker of mine was bit by one and experienced only some swelling in the area of the bite.
