Default Two rivers state park

Do you support a fund raising campaign to raise enough money to build a decent sized swimming pool at 2 rivers? The pool at Mahoney is always way too crowded. We really need something similar near 2 Rivers or perhaps Fremont. The pool could be built near the old beach house where they used to have a swimming area. It has showers and toilets so all that would need to be built is a pool with a fence around it.

Fremont has a new waterpark that opened up a couple years ago. It's on the east side of town right off the highway.

I'm no expert on building pools but I think the ground water level at Two rivers would cause problems.

You may be right. I have a friend that lives out that way and we hit ground water 2 feet down when we put his fence in. I didn't know there was a water park at fremont. I don't go up there much because the fishing seems rather poor.

No. They have a designated lake for swimming there for swimming already. And to put in an inground pool there would be astronomically expensive.

I agree with LiquidSteel. To me it wouldn't make sense to spend the money for an ingound pool when there is already a swimming lake in place.

You obviously didn't read the whole question of the post. Would you favor putting a pool there if G&P had a fundraising campaign to raise the funds? This money would come from FUNDRAISING not from the general state treasury or the G&P budget.

That lake is dirty and has absolutly no possibility of having a waterslide. Don't worry about spending the money. The whole idea is to raise the funds privately to build it. You might try getting into the pool at mahoney on a busy day. You'll be sitting under a tree on a waiting list. If we had another similar waterpark neither of the 2 would be so crowded.

I don't see teens trashing mahoney and if they did the park employees have the responsibility of dealing with it. Yes we have allot of swimming areas in nearby sandpits but they aren't the cleanest of places to do so. In fact fremont has an annual problem with blue/green algee. The swimming area at 2 rivers is small and the cotton from the trees is all over the place.

With all due respect, I did read the question and I answered it. The area out there isnt good for building houses with basements, much less an inground pool. You could have the G&P have a huge fundraiser and raise alot of money. But I honestly think they could find other productive ways to spend the money raised other than an inground pool in a sandpit.

With where the water table is there they would need to do quite a bit of dirt work, not cheap. And like others have said there is a swimming area out there already.

Won't the trees be there if ya have an in ground pool?? Now,I have a pool so I know how much the cotton/maple tree helicopter thingys/chinese elm thingys, etc. get into the pool and either require you to clean the pool alot until those things are done flying, will clog your filters very quickly and if left uncleaned will burn up your pump motor fast,or ya wait until the things are done falling before you open the pool.

And are you gonna raise money each year for maintenance, upkeep, and manpower to staff it?? With the NGPC's budget, you ain't gonna get it built and be able to do any of those things without cutting something else.

Don't they have the river and a swimming lake there? I would think that should be enough. Swimming pools are for in town, we don't need them in our out of town get away. That would be just one more thing to distract kids away from nature.
