NGPC news release, 6/1/09:
LINCOLN, Neb. – Birders in south-central Nebraska are invited to District VI Birding Day on June 11 along the Platte River in Buffalo County. The event begins at 7 a.m. at the Bassway Strip Wildlife Management Area, east of Kearney off Nebraska Highway 10. Birding will conclude at Fort Kearny State Recreation Area. The aim is to identify bird species using habitats at these areas. Other wildlife species, as well as plants and insects, also will be examined and recorded. Birders also will contribute to the Nebraska Breeding Bird Atlas Project, which is an effort to document the breeding bird species in different habitats across the state. Participants should contact Evan Shike at (308) 865-5332 or ngpc.southcentral.partners@nebraska.gov. Lunch will be provided for a small fee.
