Default District II Birding Day Set for May 19

NGPC news release, 4/29/09:

LINCOLN, Neb. – Central Nebraska birders of all experience levels are invited to attend the annual District II Birding Day. The event, sponsored by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, is set for May 19 at Pressey Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Custer County.

The purpose of the event is to develop a list of nongame birds and other wildlife and vegetation species present on the WMA, which is located 16 miles south of Broken Bow. Interested birders should meet at the campground at 6:30 a.m.

Birders should bring appropriate field guides, clothing and binoculars for a day of wildlife viewing along the South Loup River. A small fee will be charged for a morning snack and lunch.

Interested participants should contact the Commission’s Ben Rutten at (402) 684-2921 or ben.rutten@nebraska.gov.
