Thanks, that's just down the street. I'm also getting a quote from a place in TX that makes boat windshields. Kinda curious how much they will be.

You might also check ebay, have boat parts on there.

Just a thought.

I have worked with alot of types of plexi. I've used it in alot of cabinet applications that didn't require complete visibility. It works great, but it will scratch!

Don't you haul it with the cover on it? That would have prevented from happening.

I would venture to say that most people tow with no cover.

Not usually. My tarp isn't really made for travel.

Found out today that my deductable is 1% of the cost of the boat. I might be able to get the whole thing for less than I paid for the last one.

That's good news. Let us know how it works out.

Insurance guy got ahold of me today and said $188 will cover it. Now I have to make arrangements and see if it holds true, or if there's any catches. I'm more than happy with that, if it works out.

I have State Farm and mine is $18 a month for a boat, motor and trailer value of $18,000. When I first looked for insurance, I found out the same thing as you is that progressive is ridiculously high. Time to look elsewhere.

Mine is about 20 a month with state farm 25k replacement value. FYI if you have taken a safe boater course it will reduce it by 10%.

I got mine through AAA, who insured it through Travelers. It's insured for around 24k and I believe is around $150 yr.

And, it doesn't have to be an actual sit through a long class. Some states (Ohio I know for sure) offer an online course. Takes a couple hours and only costs about $30. It's a challenging test but you can do it from the comfort of your own home on your schedule. Also, a lot of states are adopting boating education courses as a requirement and not an option so if you don't have one yet, it's not a bad idea to get it out of the way. Even if it never becomes a law where you boat, it will still make you a safer boater.

Thanks for the plug.

If anybody has ever noticed my posts or Bumpus' press releases on the subject, Nebraska offers Boating Safety courses. They are required for 14-18 year olds and just a darn good idea for anyone else. One of the bonuses for adults is that is usually earns you a discount on your insurance.

Nebraska does NOT offer online testing (and the other states are starting to get away from it now) due to the fraud problem. You don't know who is sitting on the other side of that computer taking the test, and for a course that is required for some, that is a problem.

We do require you to either take the six-hour classroom course or homestudy with proctored exam option.

I post frequently on the topic, or you can go to Nebraska Game and Parks Commission - Boating Section to view a list of upcoming classes and test sessions in the state. They are constantly added this time of year so if you don't see one near you, check back or shoot me a PM and I'll put you in touch with an instructor in your area.

Scott

PS, Nebraska's course is only $10!
