I know I have seen this on the old game and parks forum. I have a small boat with no registration. I got it from an old farmer, I had to do some patching, but how do I go about getting a title or registration for it if I don't have one? I would like to use it on small lakes with a trolling motor. Do I need a registration for that? Thanks for any help!

OK, here comes the tricky answer:
IF you plan to motorize it (trolling motor included), you will need to register it. In order to register it, IF the boat was made since 11/1/72 you will need to present a title to your county treasurer at the time of registration. I'm guessing your small boat has no old registration numbers, no title, and may not even have a HIN (Hull ID Number--like a serial number, usually on the starboard side of the transom). In that case, you will need some assistance from the all-mighty, all-knowing, boat guru, Boating Law Administrator Herb Angell. He can help you obtain a title to keep the folks at your County Treasurer's Office happy when you register it. You can reach Herb at 402-471-5579 or herb DOT angell AT ngpc.ne.gov. However, I know Herb is gone today and will be hit and miss next week, so be patient, but he will get back to you. If you have more questions, or need clarification, post or PM.
