Canoe/Kayak Dock at Cunningham
A kayaking friend of mine e-mailed me with a suggestion for a floating dock to be put in at Cunningham, and asked me to spread the word to see if enough lobbying to the city might make this a reality. I'll post part of his e-mail here rather than paraphrasing for him:
Lake Cunningham has finally reached full pool again, and many kayakers use that lake. With the construction of the new $1,000,000 marina up there, I noticed that the new boat docks that were being put in are private, and that area will be gated. Since those docks won't be accessable for the general public, it would be nice if the city would add 1 floating dock that was accessible from shore for kayak use. The advantage of their old "floating" boat docks were that they were a low profile, floating only about a foot off of the water, making dry entries and exits very easy.
I called the city parks dept (444-4653) and made this recommendation, which I was told would be passed along to the folks who were planning the marina. Knowing how these things work, if more folks were requesting the same thing, the better the chance that something might be done.
