dumb jet skier about killed at bo

Just took my 22 ft bayliner out to bo on tues to see if i got it fixed. it was running fine got planed out right by area 3 just cruisn when a jet skier coming across the lake gets right next to me. I was going a little faster than him about to pass on port side, when the idiot takes a hard turn right in front of me going 35 on my boat. I don't know if he did it on purpose or what, but he was so close i could have jumped off my boat and on to his back. Good thing he decided to do it to me because everyone else out there had a beer in their hand, and he would have been dead if he did that to someone with slowed reaction time.

When he turned in front of me he didn't look over until he was right in front and shot me a smile, so i shot him the bird, retard. If anyone goes out to bo to fish on or tube off a boat, watch out because some one else is going die with people like that out there. Anyways, I'm done crying about this. I should've just hit him, then there would be one less retard that can procreate, and I would have got a new paint job on my boat.

That does it. (As a tube fisherman) I am now officially more scared of high speed watercraft on NE lakes than I am of treble hooks and snakes combined!

All of these crazies I am reading about @ BO make it sound like thunderdome.

Not to rag on everybody - I am happy to report that the no-wake boat owners in the Omaha area waters are still top notch, and do not meet the rabid profile of what has been described as taking place @ BO.

(Could be the no wake rule keeps the crazies at home, and if so.....thank you much to the parties involved for making that rule!)

Let me try and say this without a bunch of jet skiers getting pissed off.

Jet skiers by far are the most inconsiderate idiots on the water. Not all of them are bad. Let me say that again, NOT ALL OF THEM ARE BAD. But I've had more problems with them than anybody. Someone is probably going to reply to this and say, "I've seen just as many bass boats do stupid things" and maybe you have. But Jet Skiers own the water. By law, they are one of the most maneuverable vessels and really shouldn't ever have the right of way, but I have NEVER had a jet skier break for me...I have always been the "chicken" and broke for them. Also, no wake laws don't apply to them apparently. The other day at manawa, I was trying to take my boat out when a jet skier was waiting for somebody by the dock and instead of just sitting there idle, they had to make big circles at high speeds causing all kinds of problems for everybody at the dock.

I think the problem is, that's about all there is to do on a jet ski. The bigger ones can pull a tube and have several people on it, but even still, if your not shooting around really fast being stupid, what else can you do? Unless I'm pulling a tube behind my boat or trying to get somewhere different to fish, I don't really move it. I sit in it, and BS or I swim, or drink beer (not in state parks ) . Jet Ski's, the only reason they're on the water is to zip around.

Let me say this one more time because somebody is going to take this personal and get on the defensive about jet skiers. NOT ALL OF THEM ARE BAD

I saw somebody out on an old clunker stand up flying around, and he wiped out. The retard had bypassed the kill switch and it about ran into a family on a nice bayliner. He had to go jump on it when it was flyin in circles

The old standups don't have kill switches. They were designed to throttle down and circle back to you and you grab it as it comes by. Its a great design as long as nobody is close to you.

We were on west Okoboji this past week and I was way more disgusted with the bigger boats than I was with the lake lice. There were numerous times when we were anchored up fishing a hundred yards or less from the 300' bouyies when a big boat pulling a tube would blast between us and the bouy. Several times they would loop around us and head back the other way, all within casting distance. I don't know if these fools thought their kids were safer in 20' of water instead of the 90' deep water in the middle of the lake or what. 5000 acres of water and they all have to stay in the 50 acre bays.

One night we were fishing the boulder flats in about 5' of water when a big boat buzzed between us and shore, again within casting distance and going about 10 mph over the 25 mph nightime limit. Don't know if he ever saw us or not but he got a long blast of the horn.

I apologize in advance for the length of the post, but it all just kinda started rolling out at once. Cliff note version: Jet Skiers = bad

I'm sure most of us could think up several, if not many, stories of idiots on the water. They come in all shapes and sizes. QtipJC, I, like many others on here, understand exactly where you're coming from.

Besides the obvious reasons to dislike jet skis and their operators, safety is a huge issue for those on them. I think a lot of the people who are on them have no clue the damage water can do to a person. My wife was riding on a jet ski about 3 years ago when the driver lost control of it and they took a digger in the drink. Kate still has neck problems from hitting the water so awkwardly, I'm fortunate she's around today from the sounds of it. To this day, I want to punch the guy driving right in the mommy-daddy button so future generations don't have to put up with his genetic cesspool.

Like skeeter said, not all of them are bad, but there are too many idiots on them every single weekend for me to see any good from them.

A friend of mine, who shall remain nameless, used to carry a flare gun in his boat. If a jet skier decided to show off for him, he'd give them a fireworks show, up close and personal like. Wouldn't advise doing it, but it was effective. He never hit anyone, but do you really need to with a flare?

One quick story:

McConaughy, mid-June, the walleye bite is in full swing. We're in a group of at least 50-60 boats fishing. We weren't bow to stern, but it was a 'cozy' group of boats, all within flipping, not casting, distance from one another. ( I was definitely not at the controls of our boat, we would have been outta there, irrelevant) Two jet skiers must have thought we designed an obstacle course for them and they proceeded to plow through every last boat that was anchored/trolling right there.

They got more birds and profanities thrown at them than I've ever seen & heard. I think there was a blue cloud on the lake for a couple weeks after that. Amazing....30,000 acres on the lake and they NEED to be on the 15 acres that the boats fishing are on.

As Bill Engval said once, "They're genetic pool isn't real deep if you know what I mean. You can wade around in it; there'll be no diving though!"

Man I hate that crap. That happens all the time at the local lakes around Denver. They get a ton of pressure and a ton of jet skiers in the summer. That's why I only fish them during the week but even then sometimes it still gets rediculous. Luckily there is usually a ranger on his boat on the lake somewhere and they keep a pretty close eye on those skiers most of the time. Had one last year cruise by about ten feet from the front of my boat going full speed in a no wake zone and within about 10 seconds a ranger was on his but with lights and a siren. Gave him a nice fat ticket and chewed his butt.

i was out at bo this last weekend had a similar encounter with a sail boat. me and a buddy were just driftin sittin down in the cabin and we go up top to get ready to do some knee boardn. there is a sail boat 20 yrds out headed right for us i didnt know if i was supposed to move or what but the retard cameright next to me. a gust of wind came up leaned his mast right over the top of my boat. i wish i had a knife because i could have just reached up and sliced the crap out of his sail. if i would have gotten that close to him with my boat he would have probably called the gp officer. just another rich a hole that thinks he owns the lake. i got my pocket knife ready for next time
