Default trolling battery

The battery for my trolling motor went kaput over the weekend, so I'm looking for a new one. I use a 50lb Minn Kota 12V.

Any recommendations on what I should get?

I picked up two new Walmart 29 series deep cycle batteries this year and so far, so good. Good thing is they have a 2 year replacement on them and there are Walmarts everywhere to return it if I need to. Also, the price was right. I think they were around $75.

BTW, your avatar makes it really hard to concentrate.... but I like it!

Default battery

I went with the pricey optima. Not 100% sure if it was worth it but I had the $$ for it at the time and had it ordered.

I wanted a 'sealed' gel battery too becuase of taking it in and out and I also will use it as a 'spare' battery in the winter time when hunting. One thing nice about this battery too is I can throw the charger on it at the maximum output to charge it quicker.

FYI I use a 12v MinKota 55lb

FWD, I actually SAW HER last nite. The pic doesn't do her justice!

(I HAVE witnesses!)

For price/warranty, go to MalWart.

If you have hidden cash, order an Optima.

My humble opinion only.

Well I picked up a MalWart one, it was $74.90 with tax. As it turns out, that was the same type of battery I had before, and it was 3 yrs old according to the "Shipped on Jun 06" tag on the side. I guess I was due.

Optimas are not gel batteries. They are AGM (Absorbant Glass Mat). The gel batteries require different charging. Make sure you have everything set up right.
