I had a trim on a 25 Johnson..about 86 vintage and ended up taking it off..too much hassle and too expensive to keep fixing.

No, I took off the power trim and the motor is not held up by anything now. I know there should be some kind of locking mechamism(sp) underneath the motor that i could do manually to lower and raise like on a trolling motor but on mine there is no bar/lock to lock in place? Maybe they removed this when they put the power trim on. This is my first boat with a motor on it all the other ones just had trolling motors. Thanks.

gotcha.. Try dry dock marine and premier and kerns. My guess in that order as far as exoense. The guy in Ceresco might have some laying around too... The larger dealers in Omaha should have them. I got mine in the back yard of drydock after they had fixed my trim twice. cost nothing for my troube.
