Default Lake Size determines Boat Numbers

During bass tourneys we have a limit on boats based on the size of lake. As I read about the accidents at B.O. this year I am curious if there has ever been a discussion about the amount of pleasure boats that should be allowed on a lake based on its size. While I am sure that not all the accidents, if any, are caused by over-crowding vice poor-judgement, it would seem logical to limit users.

Professionals are limited and they know what they are doing....

Many Colorado lakes do this, due to their size and population. They pay staff to man boat ramps during peak hours, count boats and radio around to the other ramps. You may sit in line for hours waiting for someone to come off before you can get on.

I can see that going over like a lead zeppelin at Branched Oak or some of the other smaller, busy lakes.

Plus, you pay $55 for a park permit in Colorado, plus launch fees and other expenses to pay for those people to stand at a ramp and count trailers. We've already seen how the $20 we pay doesn't even being to provide minimal service.

So you suggest that we triple the park permit fee and add launch fees?

No thanks. Just wondering how else we would pay for the people to enforce a boat limit?

Well at some places it looks like they are somewhat limited to the amout of spaces in the parking lot @ the boat ramp.
