Default Any ideas about my boat motor?

Alright get ready to laugh. I just took my boat up to canada and around the third day I started having problems w/ the motor. It would start, idle, and run at a slow throttle, but as soon as I tried to get to the top end, the motor would cut out like it wasn't getting gas. Now, it was raining all day the day I had problems. When I got home I went out bass fishing on Holmes. My battery went dead and I had to fire up the out board to get back, before I did, I un-screwed the vent on the gas tank and heard a whhhhhshhhh, followed by the pop of my metal gas tank returning to normal size. Even though I sure didn't dare open the motor up on Holmes, I didn't seem to have any problems. Do you suppose it was just the vaccume keeping the gas from the motor in Canada or is that just wishfull thinking? I will point out that although I can build your house from top to bottom, I have never claimed to be a mechanic of any sort, especially not with boat motors. Any one got an idea?

That is the first thing I ask my customers when they have those types of problems.

Past experience would indicate that there might be additional things to consider. Since you ran the boat for 2+ days w/o any problem there may be other issues. Usually a vent problem rears it's ugly head quicker than that. In my case usually within an hour. For your wallets sake I hope that the vent was the sole issue.
