I'm sure Lincoln Marine would fix you're outboard...36th and Cornhusker I believe.

Zac, how big is your engine? If it's a smaller, one cylinder, trolling motor, have you ever considered fixing it yourself?

Before you dismiss the idea as impractical, check out Southeast Community College to see if they offer a small engine repair class. I took the one from Metro here a couple of years ago, had a good time, learned alot, met some interesting guys, and ended up with four small engines that started, idled smoothly, and ran great -- three things none of them did on the first day of class.

Metro's class encourages students to bring in their problem engines. They provide the tools, and they provide the "over the shoulder" expertise. For the cost of one or maybe two trips to a repair shop, you could learn some skills you'll use many times in the future. Just a thought...

Wirenut...Hunters has not been open for some time. I called him a few times last year and he has cancer and was in the hospital. He was always very optimistic about getting out but after calling for a few months and each time he would tell me that he would be out of the hospital next week and then call a month later and he would say the same thing I just kinda gave up.

I can suggest DryDock though....nice guys there. But they will not touch anything before a 73' I think.

That's too bad, it's been awhile, so I was unaware of that. He was the only one I knew of to get parts for obscure motors, like Chryslers etc.
Personally, I'd avoid Kerns like the plague. You may be waiting a loonnnnggg time to get your boat back. :zcoffee:

I met the guy at Kern's once....I wouldn't take anything to him because I thought he was kinda a jerk.

If you don't mind traveling 30 miles to Louisville, Brad Tuttle at Louisville Marine does one heck of a job. I had a 1962 5hp Johnson he got going the same day I took it to him, much cheaper than anyone in Omaha. He knows his stuff and turnaround time is very quick. I highly recommend him.

Jeez Pike I wish you would have posted about Louisville a couple of years ago.

I had my Grampa's early 60s 5.5 horse Johnson in to Lincoln Marine and it took about FIVE WEEKS to get it back

Doh! :zdoh: I second Brad. While I've never taken anything to him, he's very good. :2thumbup:

I also agree with Brad. Had my boat serviced by him twice now and both times turn around was really fast and his prices are very resonable.

I have had bad experiences w/ith Kerns and wouldn't reccommend them to anyone. They are the only authorized Minn Kota repair shop in Lincoln, and I drove mine to Omaha before giving any business to Kerns.
