After a great morning(100+ birds seen) walking for prairie chickens on Sunday, I am getting so excited for pheasant/quail! I believe that the NGPC is correct on their survey in my area, with pheasants being down and quail up. In late Sept. I walked a field that usually has at least one good covey and scared up three in short order. In my opinion we will see quail hunting in my area better than it has been in the last 10 years. Today I posted a request for my fellow uplanders to join me afield, and have been amazed at how many of you guys are interested. I won't be hunting alone much at this rate! At some point I plan on organizing a trip to NM to hunt desert quail in my home region, maybe some of you would like to join me!
