Yikes, sorry to hear that. It does seem like it affects some people terribly. I just found out an old friend of mine just got out of the hospital after being in an induced coma for a few weeks for the same reason. Some of these stories got me rethinking the severity of the disease, but most people I know were fine in a few days.

As far as the communicability, the families I know that it has affected, it has spread to the entire household. My neighbor's entire family had it Mom, Dad, and three kids. They were through with it in about a week though with no hospital visits. The co-workers of mine that have had it, its affected their entire household as well. I wonder what causes it to get so severe in some people though because it seems like were seeing quite a few people in the hospital with some very serious pneumonia.
