Had a much better day today, went back to the NE and started in the same field as yesterday and got one good rooster early on after another group flushed him our way from the other end of the field (my bro should of had one about 5 minutes in, but he got the dreaded hunter's click). Second field yielded nothing, however third area was much better and we ended up with one limit by about 11. Over all saw a lot more birds today but some of them flushed pretty far out. (if we had both been more experienced and had a halfway competant dog we both would have limited by lunch time easy).

All in all a successful opener for two first-timers hunting on public land without dogs, not to mention the crop situation! thanks for all the help guys!
