I read the Purification Ceromony too, years ago when it first came out. I don't remember exactly how it goes, but I do remember it being a little scarry.
Bill Heavey, from F&S, is a really funny writer. His book is called
"If you didn't bring the beef jerkey, what did I just Eat??" It is a bunch of different compilations of hunts he has been on and life experiences, some happy, some sad.
I never wanted to go to africa until I read "Hunter" by Hunter (ironically, that is his last name). A book of stories from years ago, about killing hundreds of lions, elephants, leopards, cape buff., alligators, and the dangers of uncivilized africa.
The last one I read was a bunch of short stories called "When Man is Pray" and talks about bear, wolf, lion, mt lion, deer, ect attacks on people. Another great read.
