First light proved otherwise. Majority of the birds were woodies. Had me real nervous to shoot as the teal and woodrows were mixed in. Didn't fire the first shot until a half hour after sunrise. Could have easily had the three drake woodies and a handful of other random big ducks. Saw Mallies, spooners, gads, wigs, woodies. Went fast and furious as soon as I started shooting. Wacked a single out of a pair and then tripled on a HUGE flock of 50-75 that decided to land on the boat. Birds were flying all over as I was picking up. Had the marsh entirely to myself, know for a fact no one else has hunted it yet this year unless they are really tricky.
Decided to call it a season on that, a good way to end one of the hardest and least birdy teal seasons I have seen. Might be an easy limit for a couple of guys tomorrow, but I think I would finally rather sleep in. 44 solo birds, 11 hunts. Lost a single cripple.
Good to get things started, shooting skills are nice and warmed up. Now we need a bunch more rain.

Nice Pat..What was the ratio of blues to greens on the 44 that you shot?
