I do not know how anyone did aside from Daryl (tough luck my friend), but sine I had not heard anything, I am assuming that nobody boated an elusive musky...much less a 30"+.
My night started out great. Once Kevin (Buglem) and I got out, we went to trolling the breaks along the south shore. I was trolling a 10" "Piker" at about 9' deep just exiting a break by the last big bend before 168th Bridge when I got the tap...tap...WHAM!
Now, I only had the fish on for about 5 seconds, but it was long enough. It shook free before Kevin could slow us down. I know that it was not a bass because my new lure had some really nice scoring on the back and sides. It had to be either a really nice walleye or a musky.
10 minutes later, closer into shore further down, I was rigging a second line for top water and I had the rod in a holder. Suddenly my drag started peeling and I realized that I was hung up. Before I could do anything, my line broke, losing my new $20 lure. BUMMER. Most of my musky stuff is still in Minnesota (soon to be remedied), so I became suddenly very limited in my lure presentations, not to mention trenching my new line badly.
So that was it for the excitement for the night. I hope that everyone else had a great time and better luck. I look forward to our next event!
BTW, I am planning on hitting Wagon Train REAL soon, so perhaps I can get a little more luck out there!
