Depends on what airline you are flying. Go to thier website and it should have detailed requirements for guns. There is a federal standard and then each airline makes its own rules also, but everything will be laid out on thier website.
I can tell you this, if you plan on sending ammo, it must be in the original factory box and must be FULL! No partial boxes and no generic carriers with re-loads in them. This is federal requirement.
