This was a really cool event at the Council Bluffs BPS last night.
I
highly recommend the next time Recycled Fish is having anything like this over there that you make plans to get there! I met tons of cool folks, got to taste some wine and beer, (which was very good, by the way) tons of cool prizes were given away and there was a ton more to bid on (and not just regular fishing stuff either!) and I got to try my luck in the BPS pond with my flyrod, which was a complete hoot!
One could even order dinner there from the restaurant and have a nice meal while all the rest of this was going on!
It was just $5 to get in the door. All you fellows with wives or significant others really need to look at making it an evening out at one of these things. This was not your typical "fishing" event and it truly was a lot of fun.
(and of course, by attending you are supporting Recycled Fish and all the great work they do in getting the word out to everyone about responsible fishing stewardship, which is always a good cause!)
I know Teeg has a bunch of stuff like this coming up in the future, so keep your eyes peeled and mark you calendars!
There were quite a few forum members there, WireDog, Skershaw, Mark O Olson, Aaron Lee, FlyBoyWray and I know I'm missing a few others.
Like many folks there at the pond last night, this young lady had never flyfished before and with the help of the instructors on hand, right before dark her persistence paid off!
The security staff of BPS would like everyone's help in identifying the tresspasser in the next picture at the BPS pond. Long after the store closed and everyone went home, he was observed frantically casting from the rocks yelling over and over "Just one more, just one more!!" Subject was deemed to be unstable (but he casts very well) and so security elected to just let him be until it was too dark for him to tie flies on anymore.
Thanks Teeg!! Well done!!
