more details....

Right now, as in years past, NGPC is producing muskellunge every year.

The waterbodies seen as suitable for Muskies are on an every-other year rotation. As an example, District 2 (Merritt, Calamus, and Cottonwood -Steverson) would be stocked one year....the next year everyone else (Elwood, GI LE Ray, Fremont 7-8, Zorinski, Timber Point and Enders) would be stocked. Basically, it just spreads out the cost of producing an expensive fish.

Under the new "plan" (as I understand it), in Feb 2010, all District Supervisors who want muskies stocked within their territory would file the requests and they'd all get fish all at once in March of 2011- rather than
being on an every-other-year rotation. Requests could again be made in Feb 2014.

(without having heard any real details) My primary concern is the possibility of a total failure of a year-class prior to Spring-stocking, which has happened in the past.
