Legislature passes LB1049
LB1049 was approved on final reading Monday and has been sent to the Governor for his signature.
The bill would increase the number of Nebraska Game and Parks commissioners from eight to nine, to include one new "at large" commissioner; reduce their terms of office from five to four years while providing for the possibility of a four-year second term; broaden the qualifications for agricultural representation; eliminate the requirement that two of the three ag appointees live on a farm or ranch; and clarify that an appointee's political party (no more than 5 of the 9 can be from one party) is determined by the appointee's registration at the time of the last general election prior to the appointment.
